Description
Featuring a Scottish Thistle, this beautiful bauble evokes the rich landscape and heritage of Scotland. The thistle was adopted as the national symbol of Scotland in the 13th century when supposedly an invading Viking raider stepped on one, crying out in pain, and alerting the Scottish army to their presence. Made in a traditional decoupage technique, the interior design is comprised of many sheets of interfolded decorated paper smoothed with varnish under a glass exterior. A red ribbon is attached for ease of hanging any time of year. The bauble is made by Royal Tara, which specializes in Irish, and Celtic giftware and has been making beautiful souvenirs for over 50 years from their County Galway, Ireland home. Measures 7.5cm round (approx. 3 in).
